Implied Volatility Mover
Veeco Instruments (VECO) is rallying on an analyst upgrade and implied volatility in the options on the stock is moving higher ahead of earnings. The stock is up $3.68 to $38.64, new 52-week highs in active trading of 1.9 million shares. By way of comparison, typical volume through midday is about 200K shares. On the options front, 3,100 calls and 1,560 puts traded in VECO, or 5X the daily average. April 40 calls and October 41 puts are the most active and 30-day implied volatility in the options on the stock is moving up 16 percent to 48.5 ahead of the results, due out after the closing bell.

National Bank of Greece (NBG) options volume is running 8.5X the (22-day) average, with 21,000 contracts traded and call volume accounting for 88 percent of the volume.
Dollar General (DG) options volume is 2.5X, the average daily, with 18,000 contracts traded and call option volume representing 69 percent of the activity.
Apollo Group (APOL) options volume is running 4X the average daily, with 13,000 contracts traded and call volume accounting for 66 percent of the activity.
Increasing options activity is also being seen in American Eagle (AEO), Ctrip (CTRP), and Accenture (ACN).
