BITCOIN OPTIONS ARE FINALLY HERE…in January!
The launch of CME Group’s bitcoin futures back in December 2017 led to a deluge of questions from our audience. But one question dominated the rest and threatened to overwhelm our inbox? – “When is CME Group going to launch bitcoin options?” The recent announcement of a vague Q1 release date for the options added a little more clarity to the picture. However, our audience demanded even more information. They clearly would not be happy until they received a concrete launch date for these products. Now, after nearly two years of dogged inquiries, we can finally give them what they’ve wanted all along. CME Group announced today that the exchange will launch bitcoin options on January 13, 2020.   • Average daily volume of 6,500+ contracts in 2019, equivalent to about 32,500 bitcoin
  • 22 successful futures expiration settlements since launch
  • 3,500+ individual accounts trading
  • 47 percent of trading volume is from outside the U.S.
