The Options Industry Council (OIC) has announced that 355,570,399 total options contracts traded in March, a 14.12 percent rise from March of last year when 311,565,300 contracts were exchanged.
Average daily volume was 16,931,924 contracts, up 8.69 percent compared to last March?s 15,578,265 contracts. Year-to-date volume stood at 1,090,299,568 contracts, 9.73 percent more than last year?s 993,580,233 contracts.
Equity options volume was 321,641,596 contracts, 15.26 percent more than last March’s 279,047,146 contracts while average daily volume for the month was 15,316,266 contracts, 9.78 percent greater than last year?s 13,952,357 contracts.
Year-to-date equity options volume stood at 980,477,032 contracts, 9.08 percent more than the 898,885,441 contracts traded in the same period last year.
