On Monday, the Options Industry Council (OIC) announced that 344,908,034 total options contracts traded in February, up 7.47 percent compared to last year when 320,943,312 contracts traded.
Average daily volume came was 18,153,055 contracts, a 7.47 percent rise from last February’s 16,891,753 contracts. Year-to-date volume stood at 734,729,169 contracts, 7.73 percent more than last year?s 682,014,933 contracts.
Looking at equity options, February volume was 307,184,466 contracts, up 4.99 percent compared to last February when 292,572,720 contracts were exchanged. Average daily volume in February was 16,167,603 contracts, 4.99 percent more than last year?s 15,398,564 contracts.
Year-to-date equity options volume stood at 658,835,436 contracts, 6.29 percent more than the 619,838,295 contracts traded at the same point last year.
