On Thursday, the Options Industry Council (OIC) announced its evening seminar schedule for 2014’s first half. This includes the introduction of a new three-part series offered in various U.S. cities. ?
Earlier this month, OIC launched its Options Education Program, which combines online offerings and a network of leading industry professionals to provide investors with a comprehensive education platform.? This includes evening seminars with updated curriculum presented over the course of three weeks (a monthly series is being offered in New York City).
Attendees will learn the benefits of investing with options, options-pricing concepts, exercise and assignment, as well as hands-on techniques such as entering orders, and managing trades. They will also?gain insight into basic and intermediate level options strategies. ?
All seminars are free and taught by options market professionals. They take place during the week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The 2014 winter and spring schedule from February 4 through May 21 includes 23 seminars in the following cities: New York, NY; Costa Mesa, CA; Dallas, TX; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Parsippany, NJ; Austin, TX; San Jose, CA.?
?Here’s a look at the course descriptions:?
Presentation 1: Options Fundamentals
Attendees will get a solid foundation to build upon as they continue the series. Topics covered include the benefits of investing with options, basic uses of long calls and long puts, an exploration of the different asset classes that can be traded with options and basic-level strategies for options investors.?
Presentation 2: Trading & Understanding Risk
The presentation explains basic investing techniques utilizing options. The instructor will explain how to calculate market exposure of options positions, how to measure risk and reward potential, and options-pricing concepts. After completing this class, attendees will have a working understanding of using options to invest and manage risk.
?Presentation 3: Option Trade Management
This class is designed to help attendees gain the skills needed to make better investing choices and manage investments properly. Attendees will learn hands-on techniques on how to enter options orders using an online broker, how to manage trades and stress test positions, and how options can help achieve their investment objectives.
