On Friday, NYSE Euronext?(NYX) announced March trading volumes for its global derivatives and cash equities exchanges. For global derivatives, average daily volume (?ADV?) for March was 8.1 million contracts–in-line with?March 2012–but a 7.8% fall from?February.

European derivatives products ADV for March was 4.3 million contracts. This represents an 8.9% rise as compared to?March 2012’s numbers but a 2.8% decline from February.

NYSE Liffe U.S. had a good March, jumping 62.7% versus the prior month. But trading in European and U.S. cash equities volumes fell year-over-year and month-over-month.

As for NYSE Euronext U.S. equity options (NYSE Arca and NYSE Amex Options) March numbers, ADV was 3.8 million contracts, representing an 8.6% fall as compared to?March 2012’s numbers but a 13.7% decline from?February.

Looking at market share, NYSE Euronext?s U.S. options exchanges represented 26.9% of total U.S. consolidated equity options trading in?March 2013, up from 26.0% March 2012’s numbers, but down from February’s 28.2%.?

For total options trading, according to OCC, NYSE Arca total options market share in March was 10.81% vs. March 2012’s 10.15%.
