CME Group Inc (NASDAQ:CME) ?announced on Monday that its metals complex hit multiple daily trading volume records including a combined futures and options volume rise of 78 percent for its?Metals Products?asset class, according to a press release.
On Monday, CME Group’s metals complex saw a new record for combined futures and options trading of 1,478,376 contracts; this surpassed the previous record of 831,721 contracts set on August 24, 2011.
Benchmark?Gold futures?reached a record daily volume of 751,058 contracts. This compared to the previous record of 486,315 contracts set on November 28, 2012. Gold options?traded a record 227,516 contracts, bypassing the previous record of 119,685 contracts from September 23, 2011.
Additionally,?Copper futures?set a new record on Monday with its 173,037 contracts as compared to 128,326 contracts for the previous record from February 21, 2013. Its open interest reached ?a record 189,642 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 189,633 set on April 12, 2013.
