The VIX got blasted yesterday, so did the front month of the VIX futures term structure and SPX premiums.

So why did traders crush vol?

For those that are flabbergasted that the VIX is now below 15, let me explain to you in one chart when the VIX has fallen out of bed.

The VIX had a nice recovery yesterday on what was really a mild sell off.

The old saying is complacency kills, to which I would say…unless one likes to sell premium. In that case complacency rules.

While last Wednesday we saw a huge reaction in the VIX, since then the market has been down somewhat aggressively, certainly on an intra-day basis.

I have been saying for a few days that the correlation between Oil and SPX is kind of dumb and nonsensical.
