IBM options volume is running 3X the (22-day) average, with 96,000 contracts traded and put volume accounting for 62 percent of the volume.

EMC options volume is 2.5X, the average daily, with 60,000 contracts traded and put option volume representing 54 percent of the activity.

Salesforce.com (CRM) options volume is running 2.5X the average daily, with 38,000 contracts traded and put volume accounting 63 percent of the activity.

Increasing options activity is also being seen in CenturyLink (CTL), Capital One (COF), and Boston Scientific (BSX)

Implied Volatility Mover

Implied volatility in options on Dell Computer (DELL) is moving higher on the heels of IBM’s disappointing earnings and on reports that Blackstone will end its attempt to buy the computer-maker. DELL dropped 50 cents to $13.45 in heavy trading of 50 million shares and options on the stock are seeing active trading. 30,000 calls and 26,000 puts so far. August 13 and 14 calls are the most actives in the name and 30-day implied volatility in the options on the stock jumped 32 percent to 18.
