BATS Global Markets announced its March volume numbers on Wednesday and reported its U.S. options had a 3.8% market share for the month as compared to the previous year’s 2.4%. For February, market share was 4.0% and in January, it was 3.9%.?
Options average daily matched volume fell in March to 574,846 from February’s 650,531 contracts. This compares to March 2012’s options volume of?402,849 contracts.
Looking at their equities numbers, BATS U.S. equities market share for March was 10.6% as compared to the previous year’s 10.9% and February’s 11.1%.?
Average daily matched volume for March was 651.8 million for the month, diving from the 727.4 million shares from February, and the 754.3 million shares from January.
Additional March business highlights included the following:
- BATS successfully operated all of its U.S.operations from its disaster recovery site for the ?first time on March 14 as part of its ongoing Business Continuity Planning efforts.
- BATS Options listed and began offering free trading on Mini Options on five high-priced and actively-traded securities: Apple, Google, Amazon, SPDR Gold Trust and SPDR S&P 500.
