Implied Volatility Mover
Implied volatility in the options on VirnetX Holding (VHC) is moving higher. The stock is down $1.50 to $24.25 in active trading of 4.3 million shares and under pressure for a second day. VHC tumbled 27 percent yesterday on reports the company lost a VPN suit against Cisco Systems (CSCO). The stock is down again today and options volume on the Zephyr Cove, NV software developer is 3X the daily average. 19,000 puts and 24,000 calls so far, and 30-day implied volatility in the options on VHC is moving up 8 percent to 93.

 

Volume Signals
Wells Fargo (WFC) options volume is running 2.5X the (22-day) average, with 116,000 contracts traded and call volume accounting for 94 percent of the volume.

Saks (SKS) options volume is 16.5X, the average daily, with 47,000 contracts traded and call volume representing 98 percent of the activity.

DirectTV (DTV) options volume is running 5X the average daily, with 43,000 contracts traded and call volume accounting for 55 percent of the activity.

Increasing options activity is also being seen in Southwest Energy (SWN), USG, and Freescale Semiconductor (FSL).
