What are ETF options?

Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) are funds that trade similar to a mutual fund. ETF?s are normally sector specific, comprised of several stocks within that sector and afford small investors to build a more diversified portfolio. Options on ETF?s are based on the price and implied volatility of the particular ETF and at expiration or upon exercise/assignment settles to shares of the ETF.?
